Teeing Up with Legends
May 27, 2010
Zach Greene is a 14-year-old cancer patient who has always dreamed of playing on two PGA courses. This past May, he realized he could dream even bigger.
"This kid loves golf like no other kid," says Peg Phillips, a Dream Factory volunteer who helped coordinate Zach's dream.
Phillips, along with the PGA, arranged for Zach and his family to spend eight days at the Sawgrass Golf Resort in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. While there, they received passes to the "Players Championship" golf tournament and a private golf lesson with championship golfer and Kansas City native, Tom Watson. And yes, Zach also got to tee up and play on two of Florida's PGA golf courses.
"The PGA just loaded them down with presents and gifts," Phillips says. "We really work to make these dreams a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For eight days he was in a magical place where his dreams really do come true."
